Re: What is Lupus?

Lupus is a type of disease the causes the skin to become inflamed or irritated.  There are different types of lupus it can be treated but cannot be cured.  It is always best to consult your Primary Care Doctor to determine if a skin irritation is Lupus.  Most Medicare Plans in Kentucky cover the treatment of Lupus.

Re: What is Lupus?

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that is caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues and organs.  The first signs of lupus include painful and swollen joints with swelling more visible in the mornings.  The inflammation can also affect many other body systems including your skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart and lungs.   Lupus can be hard to diagnose because it mimics signs and symptoms of other ailments.  Always consult your doctor if you have any questions and concerns.
