What is the most popular diabetes drug?  What exactly does it do to help someone with diabetes?

Re: Diabetes drugs for Medicare recipients

The most popular drug for Diabetes depends on which type of Diabetes being treated.  There are two types, Type 1 and Type 2.  People with Type 1 Diabetes do not produce any Insulin at all and must take Insulin.  Type 2 Diabetes is where the body produces Insulin but not enough.  The first base drug used for Type 2 Diabetes is Metformin. If you are turning 65 and qualify for Medicare Make sure you have a good Prescription Drug Plan.
